Jiayi Hu is a Plastic Surgeon currently practicing in the Greater Toronto Area. He graduated with high distinction from University College (HBSc, 2009) before going on to medical school (MD, 2013) at the University of Toronto. He then went on to complete Plastic Surgery training at McMaster University. In addition to his Canadian training, Jiayi has had the opportunity to visit esteemed mentors and colleagues in the US, China and Australia to further refine his skills.
While Jiayi’s clinical practice has focused on plastic and cosmetic surgery, he is also passionate about medical research and has won numerous national and international awards. He has founded “Plastic Surgery Fellowship.org” (www.plasticsurgeryfellowship.org) to facilitate advanced plastic surgery training and education around the world. Aside from North American recognitions, his work has been featured internationally by the European Journal of Plastic Surgery, the Chinese Society of Plastic Surgery and the International Confederation of Plastic Surgery Societies (ICOPLAST).
Prior to co-founding MDConsultants Inc, Jiayi had co-founded Magna est Veritas, a pre-med club with a 90% success rate for medical school admissions. He enjoyed the longitudinal networking experiences and continues to cultivate a cohesive community of current and future healthcare professionals. He truly treasures the opportunity in mentorship of medical students and residents both professionally and clinically. As a McMaster surgical alumnus, Jiayi he has been the head instructor for suturing workshops for surgical residents across all disciplines for academic years 2017 and 2018.
Finally, Jiayi enjoys being an entrepreneur and routinely invites likeminded physician entrepreneurs to MDConsultants’ annual networking events. He has co-founded the Skin Lesion Clinic (www.skinlesion.ca), a multidisciplinary clinic focused on the diagnosis and management of skin lesions.
