Harriet is a genetic counsellor with over 20 years of experience working in clinical genetic counselling and almost seven years working for a commercial clinical genetic testing lab as an Account Manager. Harriet graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Science in Genetic Counselling. She also received an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Harriet is a pioneer in paediatric cancer genetics. At The Hospital for Sick Children, she helped to establish North America’s first paediatric Cancer Genetics Program. Her groundbreaking contributions included authoring internationally recognized guidelines for paediatric cancer predisposition evaluation and surveillance recommendations for many rarer cancer predisposition syndromes. Harriet’s leadership extended beyond patient care. In academia, Harriet has mentored the next generation of over 200 healthcare professionals as a Course Director in “Cancer Genetic Counselling” and as a Clinical Supervisor at the University of Toronto for genetic counselling students, genetics and oncology trainees. Her role as a Principal Investigator at the SickKids Research Institute further solidified her reputation as a thought leader, resulting in 38 peer-reviewed publications and over 35 scientific presentations at prestigious national and international forums. Her entrepreneurial spirit had her join the commercial team at PreventionGenetics where she consistently excelled in driving growth and delivering results as a top performer.
