Brenden Kunimoto is a rurally trained Family Physician. Brenden graduated with honours in chemistry (BSc), before going on complete a combined MD/MBA degree and residency training (CCFP) in Family Medicine at the University of Alberta. During his studies he contributed to multiple peer-reviewed academic publications, and he has also been certified in various clinical domains, including point-of-care ultrasound. Over the years, Brenden has honed his leadership skills. For example, while in training, he served on various university committees, as well as the elected representative for Arts & Humanities in Health and Medicine. His leadership contributions have been recognized through several awards. He has also gained experience in consulting through consulting projects for non-profit healthcare-adjacent organizations as well as having been a member of the winning team of an international health-care competition where he eventually pitched the winning solution to Pfizer.
Brenden also has significant teaching and mentoring experience, both in group and individual settings. He has tutored both the sciences and the arts, and has mentored children and adolescents in diverse settings, ranging from academic to leisure. Brenden also enjoys entrepreneurship. He has gathered some experience in this domain, having contributed to the creation of a successful e-commerce brand, as well as being an angel investor in a local start-up software company.
Brenden lives in Alberta and enjoys travelling, reading, eating all you can eat sushi, enjoying the outdoors, and partaking in generally geekery. He currently is working as a locum physician, providing clinical services in rural & remote areas.
