Dr. Aatif Hussain was born and raised in Markham, Ontario, and has maintained deep roots in his community throughout his career. He earned his medical degree from St. George’s University as part of the prestigious Keith B. Taylor Global Scholar Program, which allowed him to gain early international medical experience. He went on to complete his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Connecticut, developing a broad scope of clinical skills and a patient-centered approach to care. Following residency, Dr. Hussain advanced his passion for teaching and mentorship in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he served at Dalhousie University in academic medicine.
This role allowed him to train medical learners and contribute to improving community health through innovative educational initiatives. Currently, Dr. Hussain is an urgent care physician in the Greater Toronto Area, where he provides timely, comprehensive care to a diverse patient population. In addition to his clinical work, he is a sought-after public speaker and career guide, sharing insights on professional development, work-life balance, and the evolving role of physicians in society.
Provided free medical care and teaching for medical students at local homeless shelters. Founded and hosted Walk With a Doc events in Markham, leading community health walks where participants discuss medical topics in an accessible, interactive format.
