Dr Cathy Zhang is a practicing physician in downtown Toronto, and has developed a keen interest in investing, especially in the private equity sector. Cathy’s been supporting health startups as an advisor, angel investor or through angel syndicates and venture funds. She also invests in private equity real estate.
Cathy has served as a Medical Director at conversationHEALTH, a digital health startup where she led the company in building relationships with prospective corporate partners, venture capital firms and executives in residence (EIRs) at the prestigious Plug and Play accelerator (who were early investors in Google, PayPal and Dropbox) in Silicon Valley.
Cathy also has an interest in Global Health which has led her to work at the World Health Organization HQ in Geneva, and to serve as a consultant in Global Health to the Department of Emergency Radiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) where she created and co-chaired a much-needed radiology specialty track, now permanently established, at the World Congress of Disaster and Emergency Medicine.
Cathy is a graduate from the Medical Doctor and Master of Surgery (MDCM) Program at McGill University. She also enjoys teaching and mentoring, and is an Adjunct Clinical Lecturer at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. She’s been described as being very authentic and personable, and is always looking to bring the best out of everyone.
