Dr. Karim Ladak is a highly accomplished internist and rheumatologist known for his dedication to clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and medical education. He earned his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, graduating with honours and receiving two graduation medals in recognition of his academic achievements. Following this, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at McMaster University, where he gained extensive experience managing complex medical conditions and developed a foundation in evidence-based clinical practice.

 

Dr. Ladak pursued further subspecialty training in Rheumatology at Cornell University’s Hospital for Special Surgery program in New York City. During his fellowship, he was recognized as the 2018 Cornell Department of Medicine Fellow of the Year, an award that underscores his clinical expertise, leadership, and commitment to advancing patient care in the field of rheumatology. His training has equipped him to provide expert care for a wide range of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, combining advanced diagnostic skills with personalized treatment plans.

In clinical practice, Dr. Ladak focuses on autoimmune diseases, including inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue disorders, and other immune-mediated conditions, while also maintaining a broad scope in general internal medicine. He is known for his thorough, thoughtful approach, balancing technical expertise with empathy and clear communication, ensuring patients feel supported and informed throughout their care journey.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Ladak is deeply engaged in medical education. He serves as a mentor and educator for medical students, residents, and fellows, delivering bedside teaching, lectures, and interactive learning sessions. He also founded the Rheumatology for the Royal College podcast, a resource designed to support trainees preparing for certification and to enhance understanding of rheumatologic conditions among learners. Through these efforts, he contributes to shaping the next generation of physicians while promoting best practices in patient care.
