Dr. Shaun Mehta is an emergency physician, educator, and healthcare innovation advocate whose work focuses on improving healthcare delivery through quality improvement, technology integration, and responsible data governance. With a unique background that combines clinical medicine, legal studies, and health technology, he brings a multidisciplinary perspective to advancing modern healthcare systems.
Dr. Mehta completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Toronto in 2020 and earned certification as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Emergency Medicine. Following his residency, he joined the medical staffs of St. Michael’s Hospital and North York General Hospital, where he continues to provide emergency care to diverse patient populations. His clinical work is grounded in a commitment to delivering high quality, patient centered care while supporting system level improvements that enhance efficiency and outcomes.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Mehta is an Assistant Professor and Clinician in Quality and Innovation at the University of Toronto. In this role, he contributes to medical education, research, and the development of initiatives that promote innovation across healthcare organizations. His academic work focuses on identifying opportunities to improve healthcare delivery while ensuring that new technologies are implemented safely and effectively.
A strong advocate for responsible healthcare innovation, Dr. Mehta completed a Master of Laws degree in Innovation, Law and Technology at the University of Toronto. His graduate studies focused on policy development, privacy protection, data governance, and the regulatory frameworks that guide emerging technologies. This specialized training has provided him with valuable expertise in balancing technological advancement with the need to maintain patient trust, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Dr. Mehta has also worked closely with organizations operating at the intersection of healthcare and technology. As a Medical Advisor for Dot Health, he contributed clinical insights to support the development of digital health solutions designed to improve patient access to healthcare information. He also served as a Resident Editor for Emergency Medicine Cases, helping create educational resources for healthcare professionals and trainees across Canada.
