Dr. Sameer Syed is a Family Physician practicing in Hospital Medicine at Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga, ON – one of Canada’s largest and busiest hospital networks. He has extensive experience working with medically complex seniors in both the acute care and post-acute care settings, with specific interests in Rehabilitation Medicine, Medical Psychiatry, Complex Continuing Care, Palliative Care and Senior’s Services.
With a breadth of experience in both clinical and non-clinical realms, in addition to Hospital Medicine program and operations consulting, Dr. Syed is able to provide value to MD Consultant clients in a wide range of areas by bringing to bear a depth of experience working and leading in one of the largest hospital systems in Canada and multiple community practices at various levels, launching his own private practice (The Skin Check Clinic, www.theskincheckclinic.ca), as well as experience in clinical research, medical education, hospital administration and physician leadership, among other areas. He also has a keen interest and strong skill set in complex systems analysis, process design and quality improvement. Dr. Syed is a Medical Advisor for an early stage medical technology startup company, focussed on enabling seniors care through digital health in Ontario and British Columbia. He has also served as a medical advisor and investor in several other health related startup companies. Dr. Syed actively seeks out mentorship and coaching opportunities with trainees and junior colleagues, and continues to assist pre-med and medical students with their applications and interviews.
Dr. Syed completed his Family Medicine Residency and medical training at Western University in London, ON, and is a faculty member at the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine.
