Ashish Deshwar is a current MD/PhD student at the University of Toronto. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship and Lieutenant Governor’s Gold Medal. He completed an Honours degree in Zoology from the University of Calgary and earlier this spring, defended his PhD from the department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. Through research in developmental biology he hopes to improve our understanding and ultimately facilitate better treatment of genetic diseases.
